Peter Waldie

Position: Honours Student (commenced February 2009)
Education:
Research Interests: Coral reef ecology, cleaning behavior, cleaning interactions, coral reef fish assemblages.
Honours Project: "Direct and indirect effects of the cleaner wrasse Labroides dimidiatus on coral reef communities"
My project will examine the direct and indirect effects of hte cleaner wrasse Labroides dimidiatus on fish assemblages as well as its indirect effect on benthic cover of patch reefs. I aim to determine the role of L. dimidiatus in a broader ecological perspective. I am also interested in learning how cleaner fish presence affects the behavior of cleaner mimics. I will be conducting my research on patch reefs adjacent to Lizard Island.
Aquarium System Manager Role:
Pete maintains the Coral Reef Ecology Laboratory's marine aquarium system, monitoring water quality, maintaining aquaria, fish feeding and fish health.
